Caliente Candied Bacon

INGREDIENTS

1 lb. Kentucky Legend Bacon
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground pepper
2 tsp cayenne pepper (or your other favorite ground chili pepper such as guajillo, achiote, chile de arbol or even habanero)

DIRECTIONS

Place bacon on a wire rack on top of a foil-lined baking pan, brush the top of the bacon with maple syrup and sprinkle on half of the brown sugar and ground pepper.
Bake in a preheated 400° F oven for 15 minutes. Flip the bacon, brush with maple syrup and sprinkle on the remainder of the brown sugar and chili pepper and bake for another 15 minutes or until the bacon reaches the desired level of crispiness.
